Recommended Websites Checking The Power Brakes To check the booster, pump the brake pedal with the engine off. Pump it until you’ve bled off the vacuum from the unit. Notice that the pedal will feel firmer and you won’t hear any sounds from the booster. Then, hold the brake pedal down and switch on the engine. You can determine if the vacuum hose is not loose when the pedal slightly depresses as the engine vacuum enters the booster. If there's nothing wrong with the vacuum hose, chances are the booster is problematic and it needs replacement. Sometimes, determining the exact condition of this part is quite tricky because even if your brake booster failed, your brakes will still work. When inspecting the power brakes, it is also advisable to check the brake fluid level. Automotive Sites: |
